MOLLUSCUM
TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR CONTAGIOUS LESIONS
Molluscum is characterized by white, pink, or flesh-colored bumps that have a dimple in the center. It might appear nearly anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, arms, legs, torso, or genital area. This virus easily spreads from person to person via skin-to-skin contact. In adults, molluscum can also be spread by sexual contact. Diagnosis of molluscum is the first course of action, to ensure it is not a different type of rash. While molluscum can resolve on its own, it can take many years to go away completely. Treatment of molluscum consists of destruction, surgical removal, topical immunotherapy, or a combination of these procedures.
